Otakon 2008 ~ Hosted by Otakorp Inc. Otakon is the second largest convention in America, and the largest one on the east coast! It consists of anything from gaming panels to a masquerade competition, from a rave to an artist's alleyway. Otakon is well known for it's massive size, incredible amount of people and super awesome dealer's room.
If you are a fan of either gaming or anime, this is the con for you! But beware, if you cannot handle: - Large Crowds - Glomping - Ugly fat girls running over and choking you with their massive girth - Everyone thinking you've seen episode 256 of Naturo and can display the correct hand symbol's of *so-and-so* - Long Lines THIS CONVENTION IS NOT FOR YOU.
Location : Baltimore, MD, USA
August 8th - 10th, 2008
Baltimore Convention Center
---
Organizers (for our group, anyway): Vincent - Hotel Rooms Josephine - Otakon Registration // Cosplay Vernon - Transportation Food and the consumption of food is your dealio.
Hotel Rooms - We are going to stay in the Radissson Plaza Lord, which is exactally 3 blocks away from the Convention Center. It is a nice hotel (trust us!), and we have 2 rooms booked. Don't try getting the rooms yourself, because these rooms are already SOLD OUT. That's right SOLD OUT.
Each room is $159 a night, and we are staying for 4 nights (Getting their on Thursday, leaving Monday morning). This is $636 in total per room. The price people have to pay is dependant on the number of people who are going and the amount of people in each room (if there is an odd #). Vincent will come up with a cap of people that are allowed to go.
There are also basic rules of staying in the hotel rooms, which everyone MUST comply with (down to a T). These rules are not random, they are not unfair and are meant to promote some sort of harmony in a normally chaotic situation.
*Insert Rules Here*
Otakon Registration Each Otakon ticket is $55 dollars before July 11. Jo will be collecting the money and ordering all the tickets as a set. Thus, you are allowed to hand her money. All the money must be handed in BEFORE May 1, which gives everyone a little under 2 months to get me the money.
The people going also have to give me the following information: Full Name: Nickname (Optional): Address: Phone # (Cell): Email: Special Needs:
Transportation
To Be Determined.

| So I was watching the start E3 (right after Ninja Warrior... Bunpei <3)
I'm so upset.
Remember those sexy booth babes in E3? No? http://z.about.com/d/playstation/1/7/K/5/BBE3_5_11_06005.jpg
Yes. Those ladies who entertained the n00b gamers desperate for a piece of ass? T_T They're gone!
WTF, hax. No booth babes and no mass of people and no hotness or fun. *blows* *grumble grumble*. And too many loser Guitar Hero freaks. Not that Guitar Hero sucks, but the people who only play Guitar Hero because "all the other games are for geeks". /swt It's kinda irritating.
Anyway. Vince and I had this conversation forever ago about how Wii was for the "common person" (aka, not the hardcore gamer). G4 (damn you G4) then said "oh, Nintendo is going back to its old fanbase by making SSB: Brawl and Metroid and stuff.
*sorry my little rant guys*
It seems as if all games are slowly becoming for the "common man" and less for the fun of it. I know, corporates have to think about their fan base and extending themselves, but it's really irritating. Games become less and less... interesting, or so it seems to me. Sure, there's always Final Fantasy and gems like Trauma Center, but even the classics are falling apart. Take Mario Party, for example. What's your favorite Mario Party? The original? Or, probably, the second. Not the 6th, not the 8th.
I know, I was born in the 90's, so I never did the whole "old school" thing (unless you consider Genesis and 64 Old School.. SHH. *denial*), but... you guys know what I mean. *sniffle* When I hear "video games" I think: Shin Megami, Link (Ocarina of Time, anyone?), Mario Party 2, Lumines, DDR, Harvest Moon (the original), DK, Super Mario Brothers.
But when my brother's friends think of games, they see: Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero, Porn, Hentai, Guitar Hero, NARUTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, World of Warcraft, Guitar Hero, Mario Party 8.
Haha, when I post this, I wonder if anyone will say "omgwtf, Jo. You're just a nub and you suck and blah blah blah blah no idea what you're talking about and blah blah blah".
I think the booth babes are the only thing that has come that's good out of new school gaming.
Same for anime. I'm sick of Bleach and Naruto(OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) freaks.
Sagoshi: <<Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.>>
And no, I'm not delving into specifics. There will always be the superb game that just comes out. But overall.

| My birthday is this Sunday (hurrah).
I'm essentially having a picnic! To chill.
| Date: | Sunday, July 8, 2007 | | Time: | 11:00am - 2:00pm | | Location: | Battery Park | | City/Town: | New York, NY |
How will you get there? Well, you can easily take the 1, 2, A, C, or E to Chambers Street. Walk past Stuyvesant to the waterfront. Facing the water, walk down a flight of spiraling stairs to your left. We will be uber close. =]
You can bring food, and whatever you want (volleyballs, frisbees). I don't really care about presents or whatever.
And bring friends. Maybe after we'll have a DDR fest @ Toys R Us? =]
See you guys then. Any questions can be commented here.
